Zerka Moreno was married to Jakob Levy Moreno, who developed the creative dramatic method of psychodrama. He started in Austria and moved to the United States in the late 1020s. He treated people in Beacon (Picture from Swedish Moreno Institute) and Zerka was his second wife.
She gained great significance for the history and future of psychodrama when she was the woman behind the man who organized and got the method structured. It’s no secret that one has to understand the way J.L. Moreno wrote his own books and it is not always easy to read. Zerka’s role was to convey the method and make it easy to understand and apply. She taught the method herself and where Jakob filled much of the stage, Zerka developed a fine and refined way of instructing and following the therapeutic process. One can sense her finesse, wisdom and humor on these videos Sergio has filmed, where she comes up with good advice and ideas for the psychodramatics of the future.
